The ISO International organization initially was established under ISA (International standard association) in 1926 with the participation of 20 countries and was corrupted in 1942.
ISO standard is an international organization with its seat in Geneva. ISO continued his work with cooperating of 25 countries on 24 February 1947 in order to unify the standards in international trade support facilities and support the producer and consumer and scientific cooperation technological and economic development and etc. worldwide. The organization currently has 132 members by joying gradually other countries. The organization including 90 main members, 34 correspondence members and the 8 join members. The Institute of Standards and Industrial Research of Iran has Contributed ISO technical committees International standards participation and it is part of join members. The International committees standards consist of 11,950 members, It includes 2856 committees and under parties and more than 30,000 expert editors.
Technical committees composed of active members (P-MEMBER) and observe members (O-MEMBER).Their duties are controlling and approving the standards. After approval of the proposed standards would be the scientifically and technical documents prepared (COMMITTEE DRAFT) and informed all members (including Iran). Drafts will be after revisions published as the international standards draft (DRAFT INTERNATIONAL STANDARD).
These drafts will be after last revisions and reforms approved and applied as international standards. During the revision and development gathered the ISO member countries (consist of P-MEMBERS) and discuss about it.
